Christmas cheese trees

Okay, so this isn’t really even a recipe because it’s so easy, but it’s always helpful to have a few specifics, so I thought I’d share! I actually made these Christmas cheese trees last year for the first time and they’re so easy + cute…you will love them this holiday, especially if you’re serving guests. Bonus, depending on how you make them, they’re super low-carb!

why you should make christmas cheese trees

I try not to stress out too much when I entertain. While I love good food and do enjoy cooking, I like things to be as easy and casual as possible for guests. I’d rather spend time with the people we have over than be fussing over the food I’m making. The Christmas cheese trees can totally be made ahead of time and stashed in the fridge for a bit. They look amazing on a platter and you can serve them with crackers or crostini for a simple and delicious appetizer.

Once you make a few of the Christmas cheese trees, the process will go so quickly! You could even prep everything ahead of time, including cutting the pretzels and salami sticks, as well as, chopping and mixing the herbs and spices that you choose.

ingredients to make christmas cheese trees

List:

Wedges of soft cheese (I used the Aldi brand)

Pretzel sticks or salami sticks (I found these at TRADER JOE’S)

Variety of herbs and spices (I used dill, chives, paprika, and red chili flakes

how to make christmas cheese trees

  1. Chop herbs and mix with spices

  2. Cut pretzel sticks or salami sticks in half

  3. Unwrap cheese wedges

  4. Gently insert a bit of the pretzel/salami stick into the wide end of the cheese wedge (you want this to look like the tree trunk)

  5. Press both sides of the cheese into the herbs and spices

  6. Place onto serving platter

  7. Serve and enjoy!

How to enjoy christmas cheese trees

You can eat the Christmas cheese trees on their own, but I think they’re best served with crackers or yummy bread. They would even be good with a variety of cut vegetables. You can experiment with different flavors, as well, depending on your taste. I saw they had hot pepper soft cheese wedges when I shopped the other day and that definitely got my wheels turning for a spicy Christmas twist on this easy appetizer!

If you try making the Christmas cheese trees, I would love to see them! Share a picture of them in your Instagram stories and tag me when you do! You can find me on Instagram at @hilaryprall.
