Did you know that most candles contain chemicals that are known carcinogens, and fragrances that can disrupt our hormones, leading to a bunch of health issues? This is why I stopped burning candles in our home about a year ago. We’ve been working so hard on our health journey; I didn’t want to continue doing something that could be harming us.

I love the warmth and coziness that candles bring to a home, though, so I wanted something that could take their place. I’ve been diffusing essential oils for years, but never really thought of it as something to take the place of burning candles. When I eliminated the candles, I wanted to add diffusers to all our living spaces—adding that extra special touch.
Just like anything, making the switch away from candles to essential oil diffusers has taken time. I still have an extreme love for a certain pine-scented candle during the winter months. I’ve gotten rid of all the other candles, but those pine ones lure me in. I think I might have one left in a closet…maybe I’ll be strong enough this year to quit them completely. Hopefully getting rid of the toxins in our home will be enough a push for me.
Also, buying enough diffusers for most of the rooms in our home is an expensive process! Once you have them, though, the only investment you have is in the oils themselves—and they can last a long time!
We’d had the same diffuser in our bedroom for years and it finally quit working a few months ago. I’m embarrassed to admit that we went without one until just this week! We’re back in business, baby, and this essential oil diffuser is amazing! It’s huge, so it can cover a big space and run for a long time.
Diffusing essential oils is one of the easiest first steps to “cleaning up your home” that you can make. Becoming oily can be overwhelming and it’s hard to know where to start, in terms of what to use on and in your body. Diffusing, though, is just like a fancy air freshener, so it’s a great place to dip your toe in.We started out using essential oils mainly for sleep and general health issues, such as headaches and digestion. Now, we clean with them and have incorporated more products with them into our daily routines. You have to start somewhere, though!
Over time, our diffusers have been petering out. We’ve had some of them since I started using oils about 10 years ago, so it was time for some new ones. I thought it would be fun to pull together a collection of some pretty diffusers I found on Amazon. I couldn’t believe how many I found…and there are even more than I have linked here!
