My Top 25 Favorite Items to Buy at Aldi
I love to know what other people buy at certain stores, so I’m sharing my top 25 items to buy at ALDI! These items will help stretch your grocery budget and make meal-planning easier!
I did not grow up shopping at Aldi. I don’t know why, but it wasn’t even on my mom’s radar! Even after getting married, I didn’t start shopping there—I could have been saving so much money! Part of the reason I didn’t, though, was because I worked for another grocery store for almost 20 years, before leaving to pursue my current business. Also, I did visit an Aldi several years after getting married and it was very overwhelming to me! I decided then that I wouldn’t be able to shop there regularly.
I’m so happy I changed my mind, though! I took the time to visit Aldi several times and to get familiar with how it is laid out, what products they seem to always have, and to do some price comparisons.
Since starting to shop there, I have compiled quite a list of items that I love to buy at Aldi, based both on price and taste! I also love that Aldi carries several organic and health-based products. It’s so important to know what you’re putting into your body, but health foods can get expensive! Aldi makes eating well so much more manageable.
Even though there are more products to name, I’m sharing 25 of my top favorites from Aldi with you, to hopefully introduce you to some new ones for yourself…or maybe just remind you to stop into your local Aldi next time you pass it!
There are so many produce items that I could share, but I tried to focus on the ones that we buy regularly, in addition to the staple items, veggies, apples, bananas, and avocados (so inexpensive).
VitaLife Juice Shots: These juice shots are a great way to get vitamins and nutrients into your diet—Jason and I each drink 2 a day! Sorry if you live near me…I buy all of them at any Aldi I stop into!
Little Salad Bar Sunflower Chopped Salad Kit: I actually like all of their salad kits, but this one is my favorite! Theseare perfect for lunch or as a side to go with dinner…especially if you are crunched for time!
Sunset Colored Peppers: We eat a ton of peppers, so these are always in our fridge. Perfect to have cut up, ready to eat with hummus or guacamole. I will also grab a handful to chop up to eat with eggs for a quick, filling dinner.
Nature Sweet Long English Cucumber: These cucumbers don’t have all the seeds that regular cucumbers seem to have. The skin doesn’t seem to be as tough either, making them perfect for snacking. I cut these up, along with the peppers, to have on-hand, ready to eat.
Sunset Mini Peppers: I used to buy these more often, but since we eat so many peppers, I buy the regular sized colored peppers. They are easier to clean and prep. I save the minis now for when I want to make stuffed peppers!
Aldi has an amazing bread selection! If I have a special occasion that I’m fixing food for, I always know that I’ll be able to find just the right bread item for it. These 3 are the ones that I buy on a regular basis, as well as the Fit & Active 45-Calorie Bread.
Specially Selected Sourdough Loaf: This one is more for Jason, but I do admit to sneaking a slice here and there for toast. I also love using it for grilled cheese! (I’ll share a delicious tomato soup later in the list.)
Specially Selected Stone Oven Baked Artisan Flatbread: All I can tell you is to—GET THESE!! I love having a package of these flatbread onhand when I want something quick, easy, and delicious for dinner! I load it up with whatever leftovers I have in the fridge and then bake—I’ve even made a breakfast pizza out of them…so good!
Fit & Active Low Carb Tortillas: These are perfect for when I want something like a sandwich, but I don’t want to eat a bunch of bread. I also love toasting them in the oven for a crispy snack to eat with salsa or guacamole!
This is where Aldi could take all my money! I love everything in the cheese/dip/snack section. I probably could do a whole post just devoted to these items…but that’s for another day. One thing that I didn’t snap a picture of is any kind of salsa! I love any and all of the varieties of the fresh salsa that Aldi carries—so much better than jarred! They also occasionally carry a bruschetta that is my favorite! I don’t know why they don’t carry it all the time—I would buy it year round!
Snack Selects: There are a few varieties of these little snack packs, but the one pictured is my favorite. It’s the perfect combo of sweet, savory, and filling! These make a great snack to throw in your purse if you’re running errands and don’t want to get caught with the hangries.
Appleton Farms Bite Size Salami: I don’t know why, but these have been out of stock for months, and only recently came back. I love to have them onhand for a quick snack with a cracker or just dipped in some guacamole. Trust me…so good!
Emporium Selection Honey Goat Cheese: The price on this goat cheese is so good and they have a few varieties. The honey goat cheese is my all-time favorite—so delicious! It’s a topping that we add to one of our favorite salads…but I also could eat it on just about anything.
Brie Cheese: Aldi carries a few varieties of Brie and I love them all. Actually, their “finer” cheese selection is pretty good overall—depending on what varieties you like. This is perfect for a special occasion or just as a treat with dinner!
Emporium Selection Shredded Gouda Cheese: This cheese is always in our fridge. So yummy melted on or in anything you would add cheese to! We especially like it in quiche and grilled cheese sandwiches!
Cauliflower Dip Buffalo Style: This is another item that I will buy all of when I see it. They don’t always have it, but it has seemed lately that it’s been in-stock more often. So delicious with a cracker as a filling snack!
Emporium Selection New York White Cheddar Cheese: I love white cheddar and this is a good one. It’s drier, which I prefer, and has tons of flavor.
There are so many items I could have shared here, but I tried to pick the most helpful ones! We also get the Aldi frozen vegetables, milk, some fresh meats, frozen pasta…just to name a few. Take your time looking in the cases, because I know you’ll be surprised at the great products you’ll find!
Never Any! Apple Maple Chicken Breakfast Sausage: We don’t eat a ton of sausage, but I do try to get chicken when we do have it. These are tasty and are fairly healthy.
Countryside Creamery Sweet Cream Butter: I know butter is not super interesting, but Aldi has one of the best prices on butter. I was able to buy it for less than $1.80 around Easter time…which is less than buying at a bulk store!
Friendly Farms Sour Cream: Again, another budget-friendly product! I feel like this is definitely one of Aldi’s more competitive products.
Brew Pub Pizza Lotzza Motzza: This is the only product on my list that I’m not sure is available at all Aldi stores. I believe this is a regional pizza, so I don’t know if it’s available everywhere. If you find it at your store, though, buy it! It’s one of our faves!
Belmont Deep Dish Pie Crust: I love to make quiche and pie crusts can be pricey! (I’m not fancy enough to make my own.) These are good and will keep your grocery budget in line.
Sundae Shoppe Vanilla Ice Cream Sandwiches: I’m a sucker for a good ice cream sandwich. I like to eat them for dessert regularly, because I feel like I’m getting something special, but it’s an individually wrapped, single serving, so I can have some self-control. Also, the cookie on these is always soft…not crunchy like some.
Aldi has so many products, it’s hard to even know where to start in sharing items I love on the inside aisles of the store. This is just a sampling of things I buy somewhat regularly. You will definitely find all your favorite staples there as well, including brown sugar, cake mix, canned vegetables, pasta, sauces, soup, drinks, and more!
Barissimo Donut Store Blend: Coffee can get really expensive, so I love that Aldi has some really great budget-minded options. This is one of my favorites!
Simply Nature White Bean Chips: I am so excited that I found these chips!! They are DELICIOUS, low in sodium, and the calorie count isn’t bad either. I eat them with everything!
Specially Selected Tomato & Sweet Basil Soup: Jason is not a fan of tomato soup, but he really likes this one! It has a lot of calories, so we usually split it in half, if not fourths, to eat with our grilled cheese sandwhiches. We both like to have a little something to dip the sandwhiches in.
Simply Nature Light Blue Agave: Agave nectar is a great natural sweetener to replace refined sugar. I’m still working on making the switch everywhere I normally add sugar, but this product definitely makes it easier!
I’ve teamed up with 3 other Aldi super fans to share their favorites as well! I know they all have a variety of items on their lists and would love for you to check them out as well!
This list seems so short compared to all of the food items I love to buy at Aldi, but I didn’t want to overwhelm you too much! Would love to know if you buy any of these same ones? Or maybe you have some different favorites of your own!?
