What is a Mood Board?

No items found.

Do you ever get so excited about something that you just want to shout if from the rooftops? I mean, maybe not the rooftops, because, well…it seems scary to climb up there, but I’m totally willing to shout it from my keyboard. HA!

Seriously, friends, I’ve been posting mood boards galore (on Facebook + Instagram), and thought maybe you’ve had some questions about what a mood board is and how it works?

One of the things I hear most often when I meet with clients is that they don’t know what looks good together (furniture, décor, + accessories), so it makes shopping very difficult. Add to that, not knowing where to shop for these pieces, and most people just give up trying to decorate their space. Sound familiar?

I also know that hiring someone to come decorate your home can be outside of your budget and comfort zone. If it makes you nervous, I’d love for you to read THIS, but if you haven’t hired someone based on your budget…I totally get it! We all have those restraints and I would never want you to choose hiring me over being financially comfortable—that’s no fun for anyone—and wouldn’t make me feel very good.

This is where a mood board can be such helpful and budget-friendly tool to help design your space! You get the expertise of a professional decorator, Me 😊, without the higher price tag! Plus, you get a CUSTOM visual tool of how the pieces I select for you will look together in your space, as well as handy-dandy shopping links to make the process even easier. Hello, time-saver—we could all use that, right?

Okay, now how does our Mood Board Package work?

Once you purchase the Mood Board Package from our website, I will reach out to you to set up a time for the consultation, based on your schedule! At the time of your consultation, we can meet via Facetime, or as most people choose, over the phone.

I’ll ask you:

1. How would you like to use the space?

2. What styles of décor do you enjoy and/or dislike?

3. What is your budget?

4. Will you be incorporating pieces you already own into the design?

I will also have you send me pictures of the space I’m creating the mood board for, measurements I might need, and anything you’d like me to include: color, pattern, specific pieces. After the consultation, I will get to work creating your CUSTOM mood board—yay! I will select pieces based on what we discussed and put them together on a digital mood board that will include all the links to purchase the items I share with you. I want to be sure you know that you don’t have to buy the specific items on the mood board. If you really enjoy bargain hunting or need to see things in person, you can simply use the mood board as inspiration and a styling guide for your space.

Once I send you the completed mood board, depending on which package option you choose, you get either one set of edits or two. During this time, you can ask me to find a different option for a specific item on the mood board, ensuring the finished product is exactly what you want!

I hope this clarifies what a mood board is and how it can be a helpful tool for you when designing your space! If you’d like to read more about our Mood Board Package, you can do that HERE.
