Valentine's Day Table Scape

Valentine’s Day is one of those holidays that I love…unabashedly. I love all the hearts everywhere, I love the color combination of pink and red, and I most certainly love all things sweets and flowers! I know that some people like to say that they don’t need to be told when to show affection, or that it’s a made-up holiday so that stores can sell more things…but to me, it’s a fun way to show people that you care about them!
Valentine’s Day definitely centers around romantic love, but I think it can be a way to show love to family and friends as well! One of the trends in recent years is “Galentine’s”—celebrating the love of your lady friends. I had this sentiment in mind when I created my Valentine’s Day table scape, although, I think anyone would enjoy this setting…whether a romantic table for two, or the more the merrier for a family dinner! I’m joining-up with two other bloggers, Megan and cecelia ,to show you their table scapes as well! I mean…the more inspiration, the better, right?
Decorating for special holidays or setting a table scape doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. You can definitely make thing festive, even on a budget, and my Valentine’s table scape definitely works for that! I started by laying a Mexican blanket, in pink and red, down as a table cloth. You can find all sorts of color options HERE. Over that, I laid some fun paper with a peachy-pink scallop design, that I found in the Dollar Section at Target. I couldn’t find the same thing online, but THIS would work too!
The next thing I laid out were the place settings. I bought these melamine dishes to use specifically for casual entertaining. I don’t have to worry about anyone dropping them AND they’re dishwasher safe! The dishes I bought aren’t available anymore, but I kind of love THESE more!
I used some vintage pink drinking glasses I thrifted recently with the place settings, so I was able to use my plastic “seed glass” drinking glasses as a decoration. You can find them HERE. For a fun Galentine’s gift idea, I bought cute infinity scarves from the Target Dollar Section, and stuffed them into the plastic glasses and had them come out the top, like a little flower. Each guest gets to go home with a gift…and I spent only $5 on each!
Another fun gift and inexpensive gift idea is to give each gift a little plant to take home! I found these cute little buckets, again at Target, in the party supplies. They had a few different colors, but I wanted white to go with the table scape. They cost $1.50 each, and then I added a small pothos plant to each one, at a cost of $3 a piece.
I love giving small and thoughtful gifts that add a special touch to whatever celebration I’m hosting. Bonus, the two gift ideas shown here are part of the decorations…which helps keep the cost of the table scape down as well! Whether you chose to do both gift ideas, or just one, now you have two fun things you can offer your guests, for $5 and under! Plus….I just love the color and texture they add to the table.
The other things I added were all pulled from around our house. Which…I don’t know what it says, when I had holiday color-appropriate candy readily available, but I was happy that worked out!
I added a gold-edged, marbled cheese board, a pink depression glass cup with blush-striped paper straws, vintage red pyrex bowls filled with Hot Tamales, Swedish Fish, and pink Starburst (the best flavor), and a bottle of wine I’ve had forever. A party seems like the best reason to pop it open! The finishing touch was a sweet message added to my appropriately pink letterboard! You could make it even more special, by adding your guests names to it.
Whether you’re celebrating with your sweetie, your family, or your Galentine’s, this table scape is so much fun and adds the perfect bit of sweetness to a favorite holiday of mine…and hopefully of yours too! Remember to check out Megan and cecelia’s table scapes too!
If you celebrate Valentine’s Day, or Galentine’s Day, or any day…I’d love for you to share a picture of your festive table scape on Instagram and tag me so I can see! You can find me on Instagram HERE!
